The Bench Project – an art and design production

The aim of The Bench Project is to bring together women to produce a piece of public art, that is empowering to women and girls affected by domestic violence and mental health issues.

The women involved with the Glen Isla and Glen Clova Projects plan to create some benches for public display and public use. Working in partnership with Whimsical Lush (Suzanne Scott Artist) the women will prepare, design, produce and display some benches.

The themes behind the design will focus on women and girls affected by domestic violence with the emphasis on enablement, empowerment, and recovery. Colourful bespoke design will change a “typical” 2-seater wooden garden bench into something of celebration.

These beautiful benches donated to Links Health Centre Montrose and Whitehills Hospital Forfar, are for patients of the building to use and enjoy.
