Parkrun Events

A Free, weekly 5k events for all ages from 4+, every Saturday morning 9.30am, in areas of open space

  • Some areas have 2k junior parkruns for 4-14 year olds and their families on Sunday mornings (the closest are Dundee and Aberdeen - see www.parkrun.org.uk/events/juniorevents/ for details).
  • There are over 750 locations in UK
  • It is organised by local volunteer teams (usually people like you and me)
  • Not races: walk, run, jog, volunteer or spectate
  • Taking part is easy: register once on the parkrun website (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/montrose/) for Montrose, print off your personal barcode and head down to your local event, there are also local Parkruns in Stonehaven and Dundee, if these are closer.
  • Parkrun is open to everyone, including those who are inactive, have health conditions or disabilities

Whether people want to improve fitness, make new friends, cope with health problems, learn new skills or simply be outside with others, parkrun has a positive impact on health and wellbeing and changes lives.

Parkrun is great for

  • improving health and wellbeing through physical activity, including volunteering?
  • opportunities to socialise, make friends and be part of a welcoming, supportive community?
  • activities that are free, outdoors and accessible to all

Where is it? - The event takes place at Roselea Football Club, Broomfield Road, Montrose DD10 8TZ.

When is it? - Every Saturday at 9:30am.

Winning Weigh groups is an interactive, friendly and fun-filled healthy lifestyle weight management programme for anyone that needs to lose some weight. An active lifestyle can improve your sense of well-being and help you live better with a longterm condition. Exercise can also:

Dorothy Dobson

Large groups of people 'around 60' who exercise together, enjoyably and safely. There is 45 minutes of rhythmical, mobilising exercise using all types of music to help tone, stretch and slacken. Tai Chi

Tai Chi provides a moderate intensity aerobic workout for the netire body, taught as a sequence of moves or postures. The effect is to strengthen and exercise every part of the body. Tai Chi also has a soothing effect on the mind. It is suitable for people of all ages and all levels of fitness and mobility. 'Steps Tay Health' Walking Groups

Health walks are designed for individuals interested in becoming more active and meeting new people. A health walk consists of a short, 30 minutes walk around a planned route, in a small group led by a trained, experienced volunteer Walk Leader. Participants can choose their own pace, the walks are suitable for all ability levels. There are walking groups in Forfar, Carnoustie, Arbroath and Letham.
